Why does every cute pregnancy picture involve a woman whose original size is 2? This is my second pregnancy, and this time around I don’t wanna waste money on maternity clothes that I will never wear when I’m not pregnant. Im midsize to begin with, size 14 pants, large top, 40 D, so isn’t there a way to make some midsize clothes work for cute maternity outfits? Well let’s experiment together. Below I am going to link Amazon clothes and shoes, and the outfits I created them into. No maternity clothes…. All things that I will wear postpartum!!! Lets have some fun.
I think I need to preface this by saying that when I gave birth to my first son I was 205 pounds. I am only 25 weeks pregnant and I am already 200 pounds. So I’m definitely starting off a little larger this time around. And because of that I don’t want to buy a bunch of maternity clothes, I want to buy clothes that after I have this baby I can still wear for months to come while I’m trying to lose my pregnancy weight.
Outfit #1: sweater dress with knee high boots. I LOVE leggins. And I have a favorite pair from target in XL. I wanted to be able to wear them dressed up and down and still look cute. I found this sweater on Amazon. I loved the fit so much I also bought it in black. Go, run, buy it!!!

Now the shoes. I have large calves….knee high boots never fit! After some trial and error I found these. They have tie up backs so you can adjust to your calf size. They are comfy and the heel is not too high. I sized up to a 9.5 just in case I wanted to wear thick socks. Here is a photo of the shoes with the above and with a pair of Capris that fit me still but are too short for the winter. I cant tell you how much I love these boots!!

Outfit #2: skirt with sweater. Lets chat chub rub….I have it, I hate it but I have solved it. When I wear a skirt or dress I wear a pair of tight shorts or an old pair of my favorite leggins that I have cut. This way I am not cold, I don’t feel like my bod is hanging, and I get no chub rub. I saw this photo and felt inspired….I can pull this off, right?

I wanted to add a little Holiday Twist and this is how it turned out.

I chose not to go with a skin tight skirt, because I have cellulite, and because you can see the shorts underneath it. I thought something a little more flowy would be a little more appropriate for midsize. This is NOT TRUE TO SIZE!! But it came so close to Christmas I cut the band out of the waist to try and make it work. My husband said it was a total no go. Looked like a bad hula skirt. So I ended up going with Leggins instead.
